Bloc confirms one-off London return 20 years after first weekender

Bloc, the electronic music festival that began on a Norfolk holiday park in 2007, has confirmed a one-off reunion in London for Saturday 6 March 2027. The event will take over The Cause in Docklands for a 16-hour party running from 2pm to 6am, exactly twenty years after the first Bloc Weekender and ten years since the last one.

The first wave of names includes Jeff Mills, who tops the bill, alongside Surgeon and Regis reuniting as British Murder Boys for a live set, Egyptian Lover performing live with his 808, and Leftfield's Neil Barnes playing his first Bloc date in a DJ set. Also confirmed are a back-to-back set from DJ Storm and Tasha, Dutch acid producer Miss Djax, Tama Sumo and Lakuti, and Steve Davis alongside Kavus Torabi. Promoters and crews I Love Acid, Plex and Chapter 10 will host takeovers, with Telepathic Fish running a dedicated chill-out room. Organisers say further artists will be added in the coming months.

From holiday parks to Docklands

Bloc was founded in 2007 by Alex Benson and George Hull at Pontin's in Hemsby-on-Sea, Norfolk, before later moving to Butlin's Minehead, where it ran for the best part of a decade. After a troubled 2012 London Pleasure Gardens edition, the pair opened an East London club under the same name, which operated for eight years before closing. The final Weekender took place at Butlin's Minehead in 2016.

The Cause itself has its own story of growth. The venue started in 2018 as a single-room space inside a former mechanics workshop in Tottenham and has since expanded into a multi-space venue in Docklands, making it a fitting home for a festival built on DIY programming.

Demand already high

Benson and Hull said the decision to revive Bloc came as a surprise even to themselves, noting "no one planned for this" when announcing the show. They added that more than 1,000 people signed up for tickets within hours of the on-sale that afternoon, suggesting strong appetite for the reunion among clubbers who followed the festival during its original run.

For many in the UK's techno and electro scenes, Bloc's programming during its decade of operation helped shape bookings well beyond its own stages, and its return, however brief, gives a new generation of clubbers a chance to see artists synonymous with the festival's history on one bill. Full details on remaining lineup additions and ticket availability are expected in the coming months.
