Digital Newcastle
About Digital Newcastle
Digital is a nightclub right on Times Square, opened in 2005 (some sources say its predecessor space dates to 2004) and quickly became known for its sound system: Digital first opened its doors upon Newcastle's Times Square back in 2005 with one of the most powerful speakers in the North, a Funktion-One Dancestack flown over from Miami by the club owner Aaron Mellor. The club's capacity is reported differently across sources, generally between 1,200 and 2,100 depending on how many of its rooms are included, and the venue consists of four rooms altogether, plus a VIP area that overlooks the main club.
Over the years it's built a reputation for big-name electronic bookings, with regular headliner bookings that consistently pack the dancefloor including Sven Väth, Peggy Gou, Loco Dice, Eric Prydz, and local hero Patrick Topping, alongside touring live acts. It's also home to some long-running local nights, and the booking policy has broadened to include indie, pop and rock crowds too.
