About Hidden

Hidden is a nightclub in Manchester, set inside Downtex Mill, a former textiles mill on Mary Street at the Strangeways end of Cheetham Hill, just north of the city centre. The venue is spread across several distinct areas, including the basement Den, the Blue Room, an open-air Courtyard and the industrial Hangar space, giving it a reputation as one of the city's more raw, multi-room warehouse clubs.

The club opened in 2015, after entrepreneurs Jobie Donnachie and Nickos Arnaoutis took on the disused mill with the aim of keeping its industrial character largely intact rather than smoothing it into a conventional nightclub. A bespoke sound system was installed as part of the build, and the opening weekend sold out largely on word of mouth, featuring German DJ tINI as the headline booking. The courtyard also features mural artwork by Manchester artist Peter Sheridan, and the operators built in links with local music education bodies for low-cost studio and exhibition use in the building's upper floors.

Over the years Hidden has become home to a run of well-known Manchester club nights, including long-running queer party Homoelectric, Teletech, and Hit & Run, alongside day parties and garage-focused events such as GHOSTS OF GARAGE. Programming leans towards techno, house, disco, drum & bass, jungle and UK garage, with a mix of international bookings and local talent across its different rooms, and its courtyard day parties have become a particular summer fixture.

Within UK club culture, Hidden sits in the lineage of Manchester's warehouse and mill conversions, drawing comparisons to spaces like Islington Mill and the now-closed Antwerp Mansion. Its standing has been recognised nationally too: DJ Mag included it in its Top 100 Clubs in the World and named it Best Club at its Best of British Awards in 2023. It remains open as of the time of writing, running club nights on Fridays and Saturdays and continuing to host a packed weekly calendar of electronic music events.
