O2 Institute Birmingham
About O2 Institute Birmingham
O2 Institute Birmingham sits on Digbeth High Street in a building that dates back to 1908, when it was opened as a mission of Carrs Lane Congregational Church. Over the years the same space has served as an event centre, civic building and nightclub, and it's long been woven into the city's club culture as the original home of Godskitchen and other leading club brands.
The building is split across three main rooms: the 1,500-capacity main auditorium called O2 Institute1, which has two seated upper balcony levels, the downstairs room which holds up to 500 people called O2 Institute2, and the 250-capacity upstairs room O2 Institute3. That mix of spaces means it can run anything from a big headline rave to a more intimate side room on the same night.
On the listings side, it currently covers Afrobeats and electro nights, taking in everything from a Halloween rave through to Afrobeats-led sets from the likes of DJ Tunez and DJ Maphorisa, alongside live dates from acts such as Igorrr and Joshua Idehen. It's a short walk from Birmingham's main rail stations, making it an easy stop for a night out in Digbeth.
