Maxwell (UK)

Maxwell, real name Tom Maxwell, is a UK DJ and producer with a sound rooted in house and garage. He's been releasing and playing out since around 2008, building a reputation for a warm, bassline-driven style of house that nods to UK garage's energy without losing a clubby, four-to-the-floor groove. His music showcases a passionate take on house and garage, with a raw sound shaped by an early introduction to production and DJing.

He's put out music through labels including Music Is Love Records, Roots For Bloom and Barbecue Records, and London has become something of a home turf for him, with Ministry of Sound standing out as a venue he's played regularly, including a slot at the club's official Run Away after party alongside names such as Joshwa, Ali Love and Finnebassen. He's also turned up on bills at Essex's Run Away Festival itself, and at The Cause in London on a night featuring Paco Osuna, suggesting a set that can hold its own on both house and techno-leaning line-ups.

Alongside his club work, Maxwell is also known on the JUVY Under 18s circuit, a touring series of early-evening, under-18 club nights held at venues across the UK, and he's listed as a DJ, producer and promoter based in Essex. A Maxwell set tends to balance accessible, feel-good house and garage selections with the kind of groove-focused mixing you'd expect from someone equally comfortable warming up a Ministry of Sound crowd or keeping energy high at an all-ages rave. Expect bouncy, bass-led rhythms, a steady build rather than a sudden peak, and a set that's built to keep a room moving rather than show off.
