INTRODUCTION
🇳🇱 legends Misja Helsloot and Michael de Kooker started the Hel:sløwed project with a clearly defined focus: deeper Progressive and Techno, a combination of classic and modern Trance sounds with a prominent melodic element. The first release came last year on Elpida Music, a remix of The Quest’s C Sharp (1999). Their debut on Pure Trance, “Bashed”, was featured on Pure Trance Vol.9 by Solarstone. And the same happened with today’s topic, their 2nd ASOT release, which was picked by Armin himself for A State of Trance 2022 compilation. Other than that, the duo released on imprints like Grotesque DRK, Flashover Progressive, & RaveUp Alley. For this 2nd vocal tune from the duo, they are joined by That Girl 🇿🇦. The vocalist quickly achieved superstar status following major contributions in Stars Collide, I Choose You, Come Alive, and Lose Yourself (mostly collaborations with Robbie Seed). She also worked on multiple hits with the likes of Craig Connelly, Maarten De Jong, Talla 2XLC, SMR LVE, & Tensteps.
PRODUCTION
In Silence (1999) is a big Trance classic by Randy Katana, released on Reset Records (Spinnin’). For this rework, The duo preserved the original trademark melodies and That Girl came up with vocals and lyrics that turned the silence into a party! The intro is marked with a rolling peachy bassline that conveys a lusty driving technique. Then, the journey starts with the lyrics as we are prompted to dive deep into ourselves, down through the rabbit hole. As we approach the other side, we are met with a stimulating and intriguing climax. It will put you in a disco mood in no time as the original melodies take a renovated form with throbbing groove and frolic beats. Techno energy is present through percussions and overall arrangement, and the bass completes the final touches of this sensual anthem.
CONCLUSION
We would call this track “Dancing In Silence” since it’s capable of being an ingenious club weapon. The duo revamped the 90s classic into a new style, and That Girl’s vocals are a great choice as she deepened the dark influences and highlighted the new design.
