Steve Allen, Paul Skelton & Deirdre Mclaughlin – Fairytales

RATING: (17.6/20)
Energy: 8.7/10
Emotions: 8.9/10

INTRODUCTION:
The head of one of our favorite Trance labels, Uplift Recordings, Steve Allen 🇬🇧 sets off for the year with an unexpected collaboration with talented Paul Skelton 🇮🇪 (previously reviewed) and Deirdre McLaughlin 🇮🇪, one of Vocal Trance’s gems. Steve’s notorious for his duo act with Scott Envy “Allen & Envy”, now unfortunately disbanded. Apart from that, there are other side projects such as “8.02” with Patrick Dreama, “Nightflyers” with UDM, “F&SE” with Hugh Tolland & Kevin John Coll. He had great releases on Armada, FSOE, Flashover, Pure Trance, Amsterdam Trance Records, & Raz Nitzan Music through which he got support from the likes of Armin, Aly & Fila, Paul Van Dyk, Solarstone, and others! Naturally, he played on big stages including ASOT 650 Utrecht, Transmission Melbourne, Luminosity Beach Festival etc. In her own right, music teacher, songwriter & topliner Deirdre has many legendary, all-time classic records with Full Tilt, Will Atkinson, John O’Callaghan, Bryan Kearney, to name a few.

PRODUCTION:
Our “Fairytale” starts from quick, dense beats that form a youthful fresh intro. Deirdre’s memorable vocals join the beat with romantic & fanciful lyrics. Emotional piano melodies pave the way for breakthrough & chorus verse, whereas a combination between vocals & melodies makes the perfect support for the climax. The latter is a very enjoyable balance of lively synths and cheerful, attractive melodies. A delicious uplifting record from the trio.

CONCLUSION:
Such an enchanting “Fairytale” to start the year! As expected, Steve’s uplifting energy, Paul’s catchy piano melodies & Deirdre’s sentimental vocals are alive and well in this record. Watch out for the upcoming acoustic mix as well!
